Tinley Wish

Giving Back to the Community
Tinley Wish is a nonprofit organization that has been in existence since 1996. The organization raises money throughout the year in an effort to give back to community families in need.

How the Program Works
Annually, members of the Tinley Wish Committee collect nominations for disadvantaged families from schools, churches and various humanitarian organizations. The committee reviews the recommendations and chooses nominees who are most in need of assistance. The only requirement is that the receiver must live in Tinley Park.

A majority of the donations primarily come through individual sources. Village of Tinley Park employees host a dress down day in which the $2 they pay to come to work in casual attire is donated to Tinley Wish for a specified month. Additionally, an option to make a donation to Tinley Wish is periodically made available on local water bills. Village citizens have made contributions in amounts ranging from $1 to $10,000.
